Top 5 Desi Chinese places on a BUDGET in Bengaluru!

Are you a Desi Chinese lover like us? Hot Soup on a rainy day, spicy noodles for lunch, Momos are your go to food? Then, read on to know the top 5 places in the city of Bengaluru for a lip smacking Chinese lunch or dinner at a budget price! We visited these places for our Youtube video shoot, but there was more of eating than the actual work because good food does that, doesn’t it?! Let us dive into the list:

  1. Wok Paper Scissors– A tiny outlet in the bustling lanes of Koramangala, this place serves affordable Pan Asian Cuisine. We used to visit here during our college days and make customized noodles or fried rice for a takeaway. There is a seating area upstairs as well where roughly 10-15 people can dine at a time. We tried the Mee Goreng here for RS. 230 along with the Nepali Momos for RS. 89. (Prices for Chicken). The former is served with spicy noodles topped with a fried egg, 2 chicken sashliks, a side salad, homemade sauce and a few crackers. A filling meal under 300 bucks and so delicious! We are not a fan of the momos here but we recommend the Mee Goreng, Nasi Goreng, Hakka Noodles and Fried Rice.

       2. Green Onion– Our personal favorite when it comes to Desi Chinese, Green Onion is a small diner tucked         away in a lane of  Richmond Road. They don’t have any branches and parking your vehicle here is a bit of a challenge but if you eat here once, you can’t stop visiting again and again! The kitchen is clean, the service is good and the food is lip smacking! The best part? All of this is served to you on a budget. The manager here also explains how they make everything fresh when the order comes in and do not add preservatives to the food served. We tried the Manchow Soup (RS. 100), Lemon Chicken (RS. 165) and Chicken Noodles (RS. 125) here and all we can say is, it is the taste of good old Desi Chinese, served hot and fresh on your table. We also recommend the Roast Chilli Chicken here.

  1. Little Chef – We found this place almost accidentally online but it was difficult to locate it as it is tucked away in a quiet lane. But, to our surprise, it was crowded when we reached and had to wait for 15-20 minutes before getting a seat. It is a small diner, not more than 10 people can sit here at a time but it has a name of it’s own because of the delicious food it serves! We tried the Chicken and Mushroom Fried Rice (RS. 120) along with Chicken in Sesame Seeds(RS. 135) and it was enough for 2 people! The taste was great and we visited a couple more times here to try the other items. Recommending the dry chilli chicken, if you visit.

4. The Jade Kitchen– A brand well known for it’s range in Vegetarian Chinese, Jade Kitchen is one of the best places when it comes to offering street style Chinese in a seated area. The menu is varied, cost friendly, the kitchen is clean and the service is great ! The food is fresh, hot and leaves you wanting for more. Here, we tried the Honey Chilli Potato (RS. 120) and Cantonese Veg Noodles (RS. 150). Both combined was a full meal under RS. 300 and we enjoyed every morsel. If you are a vegetarian craving for good Chinese food, look no further than this place

  1. Kim Lee Restaurant- Located in Ulsoor since 20+ years, Kim Lee will give you the feeling of sitting and eating at a old Chinese food joint on a good day. The owner is friendly, the service is good and the food is great! We tried the Shitake Mushroom Fried Rice (RS. 310) and Double Fried Chicken (RS. 240). It was a complete meal for 2 people. The chicken is a dry, super crunchy dish, which we recommend ordering along with gravy noodles or Thupka. Do not miss out on visiting this place.

So, here are our personal recommendations on 5 top Desi Chinese places in Namma Bengaluru for a good meal on a BUDGET! Our favourite, you ask? Green Onion surely tops the list! You can try all of them and tell us your feedback too.
