Christmas Special Homemade CAKESICLES
The spirit of Christmas is in the air and we are super excited for all that is coming our way this new year! Many of you will be hosting Christmas parties or wish to make something at home for your loved ones and we have the perfect recipe for you! These are super easy, Christmas theme homemade Cakesicles that you can make, relish and enjoy with friends or family. They look super cute, don’t they? You can customise them as per your wish too. For this recipe, we visited a super talented Bangalore based homebaker, Richa Sharma, based on Sarjapur Road. She is running her venture called ‘Not Just Cakes’ since 4 years, and is appreciated for her fabulous baking by customers!
She has been kind enough to shoot a video with us and showcase this delicious recipe, let us get into it:
For the cake:
Wheat flour= 1 ¼ cup
Cocoa powder= ¼ cup + 1tbsp
Baking soda= ¾ tsp
Baking powder= ¼ tsp
Pinch of salt
Sugar = ¾ cup
Warm water = ½ cup
Warm milk = ½ cup
Oil = 1/4cup + 1tbsp
Melted butter= 1tbsp
Coffee decoction= 1 ½ tbsp( mix 2tsp of instant coffee powder in 1 ½ tbsp of warm water)
Apple cider vinegar/white vinegar/lemon juice= 1tsp
Vanilla essence= 1tsp
- Preheat the oven @160 degrees, grease a 8”X 8” square shape pan and dust it with flour and keep it aside.
Sieve wheat flour + cocoa powder + baking soda + baking powder + salt 4 to 5 times from a little height and keep it aside.
- In a mixing bowl add warm milk + warm water + sugar and mix it with hand mixer till sugar dissolves.
To this add coffee decoction + oil + melted butter + vinegar and just mix to form homogeneous mixture.
Now add the flour mixture to this in 3 to 4 batches and just mix with balloon whisk /spatula donot over mix.
- Add vanilla essence( + few drops of choco hazel nut essence) and just mix it.
Pour the batter in greased pan and bake it for 25 mins/ a skewer stick inserted in the center comes out clean. Kindly adjust the timer and oven temperature as per your oven settings.
Cool completely before using it for further steps.

Steps for cakesicles
1.Crumble the cake and add little bit of cream in it
2.Take cakesicles mould and spread some melted chocolate into it and apply all over
3.Once the chocolate will cool down in the fridge (10-12 minutes), put some crumbled sponge into it
4.Cover it again with melted chocolate and keep it in the fridge for 15-20 minutes
5.Once it sets, take it out from the mould and decorate it with fondant or chocolate decorations.
