Bangalore’s BIGGEST Rajasthani Thali needs to be on your go to list!

Kesariya JP Nagar

A plate full of colors, textures, smell, offering to give you a lot in terms of Rajasthani food, Kesariya restaurant in JP Nagar is a must visit. Consisting of more than 30 items in a single royal silver thali, this restaurant offers more than just food. The soothing and traditional Rajasthani music, the windy seating area, the welcoming service and the beautiful ambience will make you want to stay here for hours. We visited this place for a video shoot, having heard good reviews from many. We are not big time thali lovers but were willing to give this one a try, in anticipation. Glad we finally did as it had a lot to offer (quite literally!). The adult thali here costs RS. 595 on weekdays and RS. 645 on the weekends. Honestly, it was difficult for one person to finish the entire thali  as there was so much going on, just on one plate.

Rajasthani Food in JP Nagar

Kesariya

It started with a green salad, 2 chutneys, pickle, a chaat, Dal Baati Choorma, Papad, 2 types of fried snacks, 4 different sabjis, 2 daals, rice, pulao, 3 sweet dishes and a drink. Mouthwatering, isn’t it? Make sure you fast since morning before visiting here for the Thali! I will straight get to saying that the Dal Baati Choorma was one of the best I have tasted in Bangalore. It was oozing with Desi Ghee, the perfect blend of crunch, flavors and having a mouthful was heavenly! Rajasthani food is never complete without this and they did complete justice to the star item. They also served us with Ker Sangri, a traditional vegetable which is grown in parts of Rajasthan and cooked as a staple. It was delicious and hit the right flavors. You can choose between the Pulao served or Chapathi or have both with the variety of side dishes. Don’t miss out on the smooth and silky Gatte ki Sabzi. It also consisted of the special garlic chutney that I have tasted at the homes of my friends who belong to Rajasthan. With the papad, this chutney was the perfect combination. The meal continued with hot Phulkas, Pooris, Chaat, crispy Pakodas and unique side dishes. Ended the meal with the cold Srikhand and a delectable Lauki ka Halwa.

Kesariya has al a carte to offer as well with a variety of traditional Rajasthani food to choose from. We loved the Thali, the service, ambience and enjoyed our experience of this desi Thali. It is a delight for vegetarians who are looking to venture out on the weekends and have a fulfilling meal.
